RIP Jessi Combs

Before today, I had never heard of this young lady. Although I have heard about the "car" that she drove in the accident that killed her. (The 'car' is a converted F104 fighter jet)

Apparently this young lady (36?) had been quite active in various media venues.

She died doing what she loved apparently. Speed is a dangerous and unforgiving business.

Hi,

I read about her accident this morning. I'd heard her name, but knew nothing of the car she was driving. I know when drivers are killed in such accidents, people love to say "He/she was doing what they loved." Well, maybe, but their loss still hurts. RIP, Ms. Combs.

There's a lot of backstory to the "car" she was running.
A converted fighter jet that was relatively low budget,
granted nothing is really low budget in that game.
Plenty of engineers, some well qualified to comment,
had been expressing serious doubts about the car for
several years.
With my limited knowledge of their program, her death
is not really a surprise, sad yes, but almost predictable.

BTW....if you're into this type of stuff search out the
Bloodhound SSC project. They're getting close to
some serious testing, hopefully October this fall.

Wow! This is terrible news. She seemed like a real genuine nice person a real talented mechanic. I can’t believe she was almost 40. She seemed younger.

I am with Rick, there are a lot of somewhat risky things I like to do but none of them are worth dying for. Sky, scuba, and cliff diving are some of them. The riskiest one is arguing with my wife but I do not enjoy that one. :)

They are called, risk takers, adventurers, attention seekers, pioneers & more. Some have skill & luck, others...........

Thinking Jessi might have been a pioneer like so many before her. And, pioneers have enriched our lives in so many ways. Otherwise, as a motorhead & past racer, I understand the call to such an endeavor, but this still hurts.

Jessi was very well known in the car building industry, A very smart and talented young women. I have enjoyed watching her in conjunction to her role in several TV programs. I envy her joy of life and am saddened by her loss.
