The subject line startled me!! (We have our own beloved 'Gunny' here!) Don't know much about Mr. Ermey other than he was quite a voracious salesman for Victory motorcycles!

It was a real shock to read of Ermy's passing this morning. He seemed like someone who'd be chewing butt forever. He was my age but reminded me of the kind of men I grew up around on various military bases. I never met him but he sure seemed to be a real man to me. RIP Gunny indeed.

I was living in Hawaii in 04 and we went to The Auto Show in Honolulu and was walking the rows of cars and came around a corner and he's sitting at a table , their was a rope set out so you couldn't just walk up , I stood there for a minute and he looked up and smiled and said that's the line . You couldn't see the end , I looked back and said "I'm good" thanks .
He said "You won't stand in that line to meet me", I said "No", he smiled and said "I wouldn't stand in line to meet me either" But I did get to meet him at the Shot Show and at a Distributors show in NC. were I got to spend some time with him. He was a Gentleman and a Patriot , The real deal . He'll be missed ,

Gunny was a showman, and I loved his History Channel show Mail Call; and he changed TV for the better.

RIP. I thought he was great in FMJ and also as the DI Sgt Loyce in The Boys In Company C as well as the smaller role as Brisco County Sr in the show The Adventures of Brisco County Jr, Lock and Load and many others.

RIP. I met him twice at annual NRA conventions. There was always a long line of people at the Glock booth waiting to get his autograph.

I missed him visiting the office. Early 1990s he was in PDX visiting PDs that had switched to Glocks. He gave out Glock stuff and one of his posters holding a Glock.
One was posted in the squad room for years. " This is Glock, there are many but, this one is mine buy your own" I think was the words.

He cracked me up playing a evangelist in "Fletch Live`s"!
