That's really sad news. Even with his recent health problems, I'd hoped he still be with us to celebrate his 90th birthday, but there were other plans for him. The thrill may be gone here, Mr. King, but I hope you took it with you wherever you are! Rest in peace, Sir.

He used to show up here in St. Pete at the Vinoy Park every year and I always tried to make it down there to watch him. What great talent. We'll miss you BB.

I think most of us here who have enjoyed any blues music during our lives can relate to B.B. King. A true artist who loved his music.

I recall a trip to Florida many years ago, when I was on a SCUBA training trip. I had some students & such who were from a diverse background. One guy, a musician, (amateur) as well as a few others & all got on an elevator. In the elevator, was B.B. & an associate. Pleasantries were shared & after we all got off, the guy in my group who knew who B.B. was get all excited & started chattering about actually meeting him.
One guy in our group honestly asked; "Who is B.B. King?" He was a strict R&R guy who had never heard of B.B. King. Boy, did we give him a hard time after that. B.B. was playing in Ft. Lauderdale that weekend & happened to be staying at the same hotel we were.

But his music was always filled with "heart" as my Dad used to say.
R.I.P. to a great one.

One of my very good friends, Bobby Griffin who has since passed away, played a set with BB King a few years ago at the Havre de Grace, MD high school auditorium. I was fortunate to have a seat right in the front row looking straight at them. Some GREAT sounds.
