We had our monthly ICORE Revolver Match yesterday. We so far have held about 4 matchs, and our turnout is still a hair lite.
With that out of the way we had the same number of Ruger Revolvers used yesterday as Smith & Wessons.
RUGER: We had 4 Willy Clapp GP100's and an SP101 used in Club BUG Division.
Smith & Wesson: We had 3 each 625's in 45acp in Limited. A 686, and a 2 Inch Model 10 in Club SNUB.

That is probably a First in a Revolver ONLY Match.
Our new revolver buyers are buying Rugers.

That IS interesting news.

Love to see a moon clip .45acp GP-100 or Redhawk. (guess the GP would have to be a 5 shot. :( )

A GP100 in 40 S&W/10mm is about the only option Ruger has at this time to get a Moon Clip ESR/Limited Revolver going. The BIG Problem is driving a 40 S&W/10mm hard enough to make 165 PF for IDPA.
A 45 Colt/45acp Moon Clip Cut Super RedHawk with a 4.2 Inch Barrel is do-able, just a little large in size. Atleast the Super RedHawk lock work is trigger job friendly.
It would look a lot better in 45acp with the Barrel Shroud shortened back to RedHawk length.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change.
You are correct a 10mm will make 165 without a problem. But 40 S&W would be handier to use, and it needs hot rodded to get their.

I just wish Ruger would get in the GP100 40 S&W/10mm game.
Like was said above Clemends is doing it with no problem. EXCEPT the cost. Factory would be better, and much cheaper.

Having some experience with the 40 S&W (loaded some last night for today's USPSA match), and bullet weights ranging from 135g up to 220g, I've found it incredibly easy to safely make 165 PF.
Just pick the proper powder, choose a proper platform, and observe proper process.

But I'll be shootin' Minor

I mean, you only need 920fps with a 180g, or I could push those 135s to 1225fps. I only need 830fps for my 200g Hornady FMJs, or a dribbly 760fps for my long 220s.
Easy.....

Can I ask a couple of questions about ICORE?

First, as far as I can tell from the rulebook, "Maurice" would be allowed in Open Class?

"Maurice" is a magazine-fed revolver I built, based on a New Vaquero. It has been converted to 9mmPara on a six-shot Bowen chromoly cylinder blank. It has a gas-powered shell ejection system that kicks out the previously fired empty - so it has to be carried hammer-down. But that's OK - it has automatic switchover from cylinder feeding to magazine feeding using spring-loaded tube mags that plug into the rear. For carry I have a 2rd mag topping off 5 in the cylinder, and then I have a pair of 9rd reload mags in a double carrier. I can also start out stacking a 9 on top of 5 for 14rds out of the holster. Mag swaps with a newly revised latch are going pretty quick, around par with a fast DA speedload on a GP100 or the like.

So do ICORE rules allow this weirdness?

If so, could the additional firepower partially make up for the reduced shot-to-shot speeds (still an SA revolver after all)? In other words, are you reloading on the clock?

I want to race this thing against DA wheelguns. IDPA revolver class bars all modifications so I can't go play with them and SASS thinks it's a total abomination :).
