In a restaurant we frequent, I found this little add-on art to a knot. Looks to me like somebody purposely scraped and scratched a knot into a birds head. Improper I suppose, but it was interesting to me.
Over time, we have found this same identical embellishment to other tables in the same establishment.
Do you suppose, this feature was purposely added to the lithograph process where the table tops were made, or did an employee purposely scratch this into the lithograph plate just to be cute.
I suppose we will never know, but it makes me remember through the years where Sears and/or Wards catalogues were shipped to homes with certain pages altered by somebody in the print shop, sometimes making for an unsavory picture or word.
