My older brother was always a bean poll but could eat like a horse. Me, I gained 2 lbs just reading this post about eating. So, the thin people order the grilled salmon, and the fat ones get a burger.

Balut has a nice little crunch to it. Dude, there was a restaurant here that charged by weight...it was an all you can eat joint. Don't remember the name and it didn't last long...OMG. I had to go look up the word. EEEUUUWWW.
My friend Ray was married to a Filipina. He used to bring lumpia to work and I really enjoyed it. Sadly Ray died in 2012 and they have moved out of state.It's not all that bad. Grab some off the cart and get an order of lumpia. Use the thicker red or green sauce from the lumpia.

After a dozen or so San Miguel grenades or a couple pitchers of mojo it really doesn't matter
However, you will never eat a hard boiled egg again without thinking of balut.....I still do and it's been since 1987 since I last gave the balut guy a couple pesos.
Had that recipe for MOJO up until i threw out the shirt I had it on. Bullfrog was the other concoction if I remember correctly. I always headed out to Subic cityMy Wife has a Filipino friend she has known since high school. Her Grandmother taught her to cook authentic lumpia, adobo and pancit. It's always a good time when she comes over with a few pans full of PI goodness! Now if I could just find a supplier of San Miguel, Red Horse and a find my recipe for MOJO I'd be set.
Peso's in "SCHIT River".....the kids used to sit underneath the bridge crossing over to the intersection of Gordon and Magsaysay. They'd beg you to throw peso's. BUT, it was far more entertaining to sit on the balcony of Daisy Mae's overlooking Magsaysay and toss a peso into the chaotic traffic of jeepme's, trikes, mopeds and vendor carts. Those kids had some moves!
But the real fun with peso's was stacking them on top of Red Horse bottles and watching the "show".....

The recipe I had was the best, and since it was from my favorite Olongapo hangout with my favorite Mamasan....I guess it's a little bit sentimental.....haven't been able to duplicate it.
