I recently purchased a New Model Single Six in 32 H&R. I would like to replace the Birdshead grip frame with a "plowhandle" grip frame.
Can this be done?
Where would I look for the parts needed to do this?
Thanks,

I wouldn't be surprised if some one would offer to trade you. You can post a want to buy in the classifieds. The only difference will be if you get the latest grip frame with the lock you will need the lock, spring, and strut. Everything else should swap over. Is your gun blued or stainless?

The "regular" grip frames are available in black coated aluminum, steel and stainless steel.

As posted, Ruger Forum's Classifieds will probably get you the parts needed.

PS Welcome to Ruger Forum!

You've got 3 sizes of plow handle grip frames to choose from.

1. The standard size grip in alloy, steel or SS.

2. The .32 Baby Vaquero in steel or SS (it's 1/4" shorter on the bottom).

3. And the NV or FlatTop remake of the original 3 screw #XR3 frame in steel or SS (3/16" shorter space between the rear of the trigger guard and the front grip strap). These are made with the internal lock that can be eliminated with instructions found on this forum.

4. And of course for large hands there's always the Super BH dragoon grip or SS Hunter w/round trigger guard.

Any new model Ruger grip frame will interchange with your BH.

Which ever one you choose, if you buy new it will need fitting since they are supplied oversize and the steel one will need to be blued. So, much better to swap with someone for a used one.
