Removing Internal Lock

On the new flattops, I'd like to remove the lock and convert back to the plain strut/spring arrangement. Yeah, I know about the issues with removing a "safety" device. What needs to be done, what parts do I need and where do I get them?

Probably would require a new grip frame, hammer strut, main spring and hammer seat. Maybe new grips.

Unless you want to make a custom hammer seat. Never seen anyone do that. Possible I suppose.

Been there, done that.......not difficult at all with simple hand tools.

Of course I'm NOT going to post images of such experiments on a nationally famous gun forum out of respect for our friends at SR&Co.

This is one of those "adaptations" that looks a lot more complicated than it is.

If you search this forum long enough you'll find pictures of both the Vaquero and the New Vaquero with the grips off. Cogitate on it and I'll bet you come up with a simple solution.

Since the New Vaquero's came out I've have never heard of one going on "SAFE" all by it's self. ( As has been described on Some of the "NEW" S&W's) My first was just shortly after the first 3000. As you may know the first 3000 did have a few kinks in them Not related to the Safety. Ruger did an excelent job of designing a Safety that's un-obtrusive and IMHO 100% Guarented not to activate on it's on.
Changing out the Locking System is not an Issue for 10,000's Plkus Coyboy action shooters.
