These days I cast for almost all my shooting addictions & I compare Lymans Cast Bullet manual against The powders Manufacturers STARTING loads & use my chronograph !!!
Manuals are guide lines & the chronograph will let ya know immediatly if your in line !!!
I loaded for years without 1 & now would`nt start devolpment of a load with out it !!!
Hindsight being just that I wish it was the first peice of equipment purchased !!!
That being said try to find data using a Lachmiller 38-162 bullet in 357 magnum !!
Last but not least , I have loads that I`ll never put in print here & some that I`ll never try to approch printed data for because using the tools I have & the knowledge learned & gleaned that there not safe in "MY" firearms .
For the most part manuals don`t standardize testing platforms ! 1 will use vented test barrels with cup ,the other with vented barrels with PSI .
Then to complicate things more some use actual firearms specially fitted with PSI or cup measurements , or measure velocity & use known factors such as velocity, bullet weight to calculate pressures .
Add in the speed at which we can observe & obtain info in this time of PC friendly world no wonder we sit here & beat keys & scratch our heads & wind our youknowwhats into a knot !!!
Rant off !!! what ya got confusing ya? & we`ll see if we can help !!
I hope this helps even if a little !
