I loaded some 44 mag. 240 gr JHP with 21.3 gr of 2400 powder but I loaded them with cci 350 mag. pistol primers. I later noted that these primers can create excess pressure. Can I use these rounds in a Ruger 44 carbine (tube type)? I also have a Ruger Super Redhawk, can I use these rounds in it?

Many guys say 2400 works best with magnum primers but I have never used them with 2400.

2400 just tends to work better with standard primers.

If one checks the Alliant website, that load is a little over the top these days, though it or something pretty similar has been used for decades. Think "Elmer's load."
Two thoughts: the use of a magnum primer doesn't seem to be necessary with 2400, and I've heard and read many people find accuracy with that powder is a function of finding "just the right window." For example, when a buddy was shooting the .44 Mag for handgun silhouettes, he found the"window" to be only about a half grain wide in HIS gun, and that just below Alliant's max.
So watch for pressure signs when you shoot those loads, and watch your accuracy as well before deciding whether to tone 'em down a bit or not. In my buddy's case, finding that "right" load meant the difference between "barely on paper" at 25-50 yds and groups tight enough to knock down rams consistently at 200 meters! That kind of change is worth a bit of experimenting...
