I have a GP100 Match Champion that came with the Hogue grip which uses the bottom screw mount system. I have an old style Ruger grip with the inserts but I was missing the mounting pin that holds it in place. A buddy of mine said to try a 10mm shell casing. It was a tad long so I trimmed it down on the case trimmer and works perfectly. I didn't have one to try but a 40S&W may be perfect. I'll likely order the proper piece but just wanted to pass on the trick if anybody needs it.

Not a bad piece of info for a quick/temporary fix. I've had people ask me about the grip panel locator (the big aluminum "pin") and I typically referred them to gunpartscorp.com (Numrich Arms) to get them.

Great idea...Plenty of 40 S&W brass around here. Still, I think I have at least two such GP pins in my parts boxes.

That is pretty cool. Reminds me of using a .45acp case for a recoil spring plug on a 1911
Get ahold of Hogue, tell them what you need. They will probably send it to you.
