Redhawk versions?

The other day I saw a post from a guy looking for a certain "500" series of Redhawk. I'm familiar with the S&W method of noting engineering versions with the dash numbers, but are there various engineering versions of the Redhawk? (ignoring the Super).

If so, what are the significant different versions, and the markings or numbers that identify them?

No, not really significant different versions but there were some minor changes. The very first ones did not have the red front sight insert. Other changes were the number of grooves in the top strap and the takedown pin changed sides on the frame. There were also some changes in the way the barrels were fitted.. Maybe Chet will be along to update my memory.
