Redhawk grip options

There are so many grips out there for most Ruger revolvers, except for the Redhawk...it seems. I have a set of Hogue Monogrips on there now but don't really like how they feel. The grip is too narrow and doesn't fill my palm very well. Where the finger grooves are and the rear of the grip are the right size but pressure points are created there and I don't feel the grip in my palm. It's almost like holding a deck of cards for a grip.

Originally, I bought rubber for better grip with a sweaty hand and recoil reduction. However, after searching for rubber grips for a long time now, I may consider wood. Any thoughts or experiences?

I went from the Monogrip to Pachmayr Presentation. I like the covered backstrap and think they look nicer. You may find them too thin, though, based on what you said about the Monogrip.

You might want to look at the Pachmayr Gripper, too. Its smaller at the bottom and lets you wrap your little finger abound the grip better. I like mine better than the Hogue and the Presentation.

I have a set of Eagles on my Redhawk. Feels similar to the S&W traget stocks.

I agree with Pachmayrs. I like Hogue grips on most of my guns, but on the Redhawk I like to have the backstrap covered. Otherwise it really pounds my palm.

Thanks for the input! I'll have to find a store that displays the Pachmayrs and take a closer look. Those Eagles are nice looking though.

I have tried them all, and have decided I like the Uncle Mikes/Butler Creek grips better than any on the Redhawk. Gun Parts Corp sells em for about $12.

I tried all the available rubber ones and was not happy with any of them. Ended up spending the money and had Herrett's build me a set of custom grips in the Jordan Trooper style.

Just ordered my fourth set on Tuesday for another Redhawk. They make a world of differance when shooting.

I do not want to get off subject but what caliber is your Redhawk it looks to have a Super Redhawk cylinder from a 454. I do like those Eagle grips also might have to look into some for my Redhawks.

My entire set of Redhawks wore Pachmayr Decelerators.

My remaining 5.5" 44 and 7.5" 357, both used for USPSA competition, wear Pachmayr Decelerators.
I use the finger grooves as 'wedges' to get my hand up high and firm on the guns.

I actually bought a pair of those camo Pachmayr Presentations

I do prefer wood in most cases, the Eagles look good and I may get a plain set for my 7.5" .357 RH, since the weight of that gun requires some kind of hand filling grip.

It does have a 454 cylinder. I did a cylinder swap at the beginning of the year. Worked out nice.

I love the look of that RH with the .454 cylinder, but some have told me that the .454 SRH's receive a higher heat treat for the more powerful round. I would love to find a .45 LC 5.5" RH and do a cylinder swap with a .454 cylinder.

Bowen and others have used the Redhawk frame for 5 shot 454 conversions. The SRH cylinder is a special steel and is made for the 454 cartridge. Here's some links on the conversion.

I've mostly shot Ruger only loads and Brian Pearce's 50k psi Redhawk loads.

Both of my Redhawks and Super Redhawk wear Pachmayr Decellerator's,this after trying everything else! Very happy with the Pach's!
