Well what can I say ?? I miss shooting my Redhawk !!!!

I`ve pulled wrenches most of my life & my hands just can`t stand the pounding of the Redhawks hard Rosewood grips .

I`ve tried the Hogues (sticky ones) & there to stiky & I shoot 3ft. left at 25yds !!! But even still the back strap is`nt covered.

The big Pachmeyer , well it`s too big !! It has me streching for the trigger.

I`ve reloaded for over 1/2 my life now & cast on & off at least that much . I`m down to a 215gr. Lyman 429215 over 8grs. of HERCO & while it`s a very lite load the shock is still there & after a few cyl fulls I`m back to the GPs

Any input or suggestions appreciated in advance.

& NO I dont wanna trade for a Super - - - Yet !

I have a box FULL of grips for the Redhawk, trying to find the "one" that works for me. I have always loved the gun, but never found the perfect grip...Until I got a pair of rubber Uncle Mike's. The backstrap is covered, they are thinner and smaller than Pach's and feel very good. The heaviest loads imagined are now comfortable in my hand.

I agree...Uncle Mike's Custom with the fingergrooves are THE best rubber grips made, IMO.

I went from factory grips to

wood Hogue finger-groove to

factory with a Tyler T to

rubber Pacs to

Uncle Mikes / Bulter Creek.

Wish I'da tried them first. Uncle Mikes / Butler Creek grips are the keepers. Got mine at Numrich. Don't know if they're still in stock there.

I also have the Uncle Mikes from Numrich. As stated above, they are not as big as the Pachmayr Presentation grips but still cover the backstrap.

My trail is even longer hittman...

Factory to Pachmayr Presentation, to Pachmayr grippers, to Hogue monogrip, to factory with tyler, to Hogue Bantams, (Whew!) to some Herret's Jordan troopers, to Hogue wood, and even a set of nice elk antler that are the same size as the factory. FINALLY found the Uncle Mike's at Numerich and now both of my Big Reds have them. My search is over...ANd I am sure that they are the cheapest of the whole bunch.

Anyone want to buy some Redhawk grips? I have plenty. :D

Any suggestions on how to find? I googled all over the place and am not sure I found what you all' are referring to. Anyone with a direct link?

Thanks fellers ,sounds as if a Uncle Mikes grip is next !

But as BeagleDog said google comes up with a bunch of nuttin.

Did find an article that speigel & uncle mikes were having a dispute over patents or design rites ,so production was halted .

Probably over $$ as I gather speigel is defunct now ????

Glove HHhhmmm! I have a set of Mechanics wear IMPACT gloves I wear when I break out the 1/2" TITANIUM.

Does anyone have picture of Herrett Ropers on a Redhawk? I really like them on my Smith. The custom fit to your hand makes them comfy and they look good.

Go to Walmart or Kmart and they have padded gloves in their workout section. Work good and cheaper than "Shooting" gloves.

Also neopreme gloves work well. I have a pair w/ finger and thumb ends cut off.

I think I found the "problem" locating these grips. Numerich has them but they are listed as "Butler Creek". They are in stock for $12.95.

I have used PAST shooting gloves too, and they work well....as long as I have them with me.

I saw a picture of the Ropers in an article that Brian Pearce did on +p loads in the Redhawk for Handloader magazine. They did look good and I was very tempted to try them. I like the looks of wood grips more than rubber any day. I have tried so many and spent so much $$ that I passed on them. I have the Herret Troopers which are too big. The Ropers look similar without the covered back strap.

I am also tempted to do some judicious sanding on the Troopers, but I would probably just end up with a ruined set of grips. Someone with large hands could probably use them as they are.

I have decided that the comfort of these rubber grips trumps the good looks of wood. My gun is pretty beat up anyway after 30 years of use so adding wood grips is not really needed anyway.

I had a set on a Redhawk (Ropers) and they were the first to fit my hand. They are made to fit one's hand as one sends in a tracing of their hand outline. As I recall they weren't cheap but not much more than the Hogue wood grips I had on the gun previously. I would post a pic but no longer have the gun. On one of the Ruger Forums there was posted a pic of a Redhawk with Ropers sometime back.

Take a look at the Nill Griffe grips for the Redhawk. They really take the bite out of the RH with full power loads.

The grips feel wider in the hand than the stock rosewood grips and the stippling keeps the gun from sliding back in your hand due to the recoil.
I prefer the feel of these grips over even the Pachmyr presentation grips.

Not my gun, but his pics are better than mine:

Once again Dan, you came to my rescue. I went ahead and ordered a set and I'll let everyone know how they feel - to me anyway!

Here's what they look like ......

My hands are at best 'medium'.

I use Pachmayr Decelerators. They let me tuck my hand up high on its backstrap, bringing my trigger finger into reach for fast DA shooting and good control of the gun.
The Decelerator tames the recoil.

I don't care how they look.

As much as I like the Redhawk...I currently have 7 of them....the Redhawk grip is about as poor a grip as I have seen on a handgun.

I have settled on the Hogue grips in rubber or in wood as a vast improvement over what comes on the gun.
