This weekend I worked on my Redhawk making a new front sight. I wanted a sight that went all the way to end of the barrel. I looked online a little but didn't see anything so I decided to make one. I had some bar steel, a hacksaw, a dremel and a old stone grinding wheel so I went at it. I took the Ruger factory sight off and measured it out. I could see why the sight didn't go to end of the barrel. The way the sight base fits into the barrel would keep the sight blade from extending past the blade. But I saw a way to make it happen so I broke out the tools and started cutting steel. It took awhile fitting everything but I got it together. I painted the sight blade with an epoxy black then a flat black top coat. I put some Testors Red on the ramp. All in all it looks pretty good. This week I'll try to get out to the range and see how she works.
And for those who thought I was joking about the stone grinding wheel.
