Just got a new front sight for my redhawk but it wont fit slot. Is fitting normally required?

Too long or is the hook to wide ????

I`ve had to touch a few with a file lately !

File slowly & check often , I remove the plunger&spring when fitting a site .

After filing & use a thin film of synthetic grease to prevent rusting , the cold blue seems not to hold back the moisture to well in this particular application .

About 1989 + - I got my 5 1/2 inch stainless Redhawk. It wasn't ong before I bought a set of Ruger's plastic front sights.

You punch and lift the sight out.
Replacing a sight: Punch, Insert the back of the sight all the way and drop it in.

DANG IT , I did`nt see ya post count or join date !!

WELCOME TO RUGER FORUM .com !!!!!!!!!

Madison made a good point , ya lift & push on the rear of the site & sometimes the "hook" is longer than the factorys & ya have to push the plunger farther in !

Welcome to the forum, are we talking about a 4" Redhawk or one of the longer ones? Two different animals.
