I recently had a trigger/action job done on the my Redhawk 44 mag. Since then I have had issues with missfires. The firing pin hits the primer but does not ignite. Today I attempted to replace the hammer spring with the OEM factory spring, but now the gun will not cycle. The hammer and trigger does not fully cycle from the cocked/uncocked position. It seams like the cyclnder lock does not release which prevents the action from completing cycling. Is there something I am missing or doing incorrectly? Is this a common re-assembly issue?

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated

If one of folks here with Redhawk smithing experience doesn't reply soon, I would post this over on the other Ruger forum. Iowegan there knows these revolvers inside and out. Going to a reduced power mainspring often causes the light strike problem. Having a gun lockup after dissassembly usually means you made a mistake in the assembly process. Don't try to force it, that will usually break some part.

I have run across springs that were 1 ended (1 end would go over the rod ,the other would`nt.

Remove the grips & look at it as ya bring the hammer back.

Be certain the trigger link is in the hollow divit on the spring rod ,or the rod will hit the frame before coming to full swing with the hammer.

My mind is like a whiz wheel , just a worn out 1 though !!!

Hope this helps ,& there are ways of helping a softer spring in the Redhawks ,but I prefer the factory spring , lock time slows down SO MUCH on the Redhawk design with under power springs.

AAahh ,Is this a Redhawk or Super Redhawk ???
