I am having an issue reassembling my P97 after cleaning it. Once I get the slide on the frame rails and try to move the slide to the rear, it will only retract about 1/2" then stops, like it's getting hung up on something. The ejector is pushed down and everything appears to be in alignment on both the parts inside the slide and the frame internals. I have been struggling with this for about 40 minutes and can't this to go back any further to save my life. I have not had any issues reassembling any of my P pistols until now. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Reach up inside and hook the ejector, and pull it down, and hold it down. When I reassemble my P97, I have to do this to keep the ejector down., Its supposed to stay down, but mine pops up on its own.

I don't have any other solution. That's why I bought a cheap set of dental picks. They work great.

Fortunately, I didn't have any issues with the ejector not staying down on its own. What I had to do was insert the slide stop partially into the frame once I had the slide on, then I was able to retract the slide fully. This is the first time I had to do this for reassembly.

The swing link can be a bother at times if the slot in the frame is very narrow.

Glad you got it figured out.

The P97 doesn't have the link. It is like the P95 with a cam block. Those two are a bit different than the aluminum framed guns.

My mistake. Been awhile since I have tinkered on the P-series.

I really should get some out and post some pics. Seems there has been a few P-gun posts of late.
