There have been several threads lately bemoaning the lack of Redhawks in the pipeline.

Personally, I would not be surprised to see a design change in the Redhawk announced this year. The grip and mainspring/trigger spring on the Super seem to be much better liked by shooters and I can't see how changing the original Redhawk to the newer design would not save production cost and make a better shooting/handling gun.

I would be sad to see the last wood grip DA go, but if they improved the trigger design and reduced the weight by a few ounces I might just buy one.

Or, they might just drop the RH in favor of the SRH. They are after all, all chambered in large calibers.

Also, try Gunbroker....they seem to have a good offering of used RHs.

The 4.2" is still around, in both 44and 45LC. Just got one in 44. Dealer had one of each. They don't stay in stock as they are very nicely balanced in that bbl length. Dave

I use (when healthy) a 7.5" 357 and 5.5" 44 Magnum Redhawk for USPSA.
They're great to shoot..........double action.

With the way Rugers been going lately it will black plastic with a rail, a laser grip, a flashlight and all in a small enough caliber to fit 8 or 10 rounds in the cylinder.... They could call it the MouseHawk...

I would just be happy if they modernized the action, changed the grip frame to a spike grip like the GP and the SRH, reduced the weight to right at 38-40oz and added a .45 ACP version, cut for moon clips to go with the .41, .44 and .45 LC. Maybe a run of 10mms to build interest.

I know where there is a 5.5" in 45 Colt....not too common, and a 7.5" 45 Colt with rings.......and also a 41 Mag 7.5" with rings. None of these are what you want but thought to mention it as they are semi uncommon variations and someone may be interested. It is bugging me that those are sitting there when someone here should have them hahaha.

I've got a LNIB stainless finish 454 SRH (less 454 cylinder) and a 45 Colt RH cylinder for sale in the classifieds. It could become a 45 Colt SRH.

Did you call to see what Ruger would want to replace the cylinder?

Also, I know Bowen did not like rethreading the old Target Grey SRH barrels but I wonder if the new stainless finish barrels are different? I ask as boy I would like to send that SRH to Bowen and have him vut that ugly frame extension off there and cut back the barrel and rethread it to make a 5.5-inch 454!

I just lack the money and right now I can only dream of the day I can afford to take on a project like that but it sure is what crosses my mind looking at it.

You did not state the length of the barrel. If it is long do you plan to cut it? The problem I have with the .45Colt is it was designed to preform [using black powder] form a 7.5 inch barrel. With modern powders we can make the monkey dance at just about any barrel length.

quarterbore. I do know Bowen chops off the barrel shroud on the Alaskans for his conversions and puts Redhawk Barrels on them. He likes to use the Alaskans because they don't have the scope ring cut outs in the frame. It's an aesthetic issue. I asked him if he wanted this gun for one of his projects but he said that for what he likes to do he wants the Alaskans. I know of a guy at Handgun forums that has had a couple 454 SRH's rebarreled to .475 and .500's. 5 shot conversions. Whitworth. I think Huntington did his.
