RED Six Series D/A boxes

Did I hear mentioned that the red and black Security/Service/Speed Six boxes are less common than others?
 
I'd have to go with the early fitted white case as being the least common. There were probably well under 100K of those.

But I'd be surprised if even 1% of those still exist today.

Actually, in my opinion, the six series red and white box is the least common. It was used for only about 18 months. It was the single action box pressed into service when the 'high back' frame was introduced which did not fit in the cut out in the white box.

Now, survival rate of boxes is another matter. It may be that fewer of the white boxes have survived.

I agree with TT that the orange-ish red & white box with DA stickers are hardest to find, especially in nice shape since they are so flimsy. They were used as a stop-gap measure between the fitted white boxes used on old frame guns and the red & black boxes used in the later 70's.

The white boxes held up better.
