Are any of you guys using a red dot sight on your marklll's for hunting? If so what are you useing and what size dot is the best. I am thinking squirrel.
thanks

I have a few red dots I use on a couple of 22's. Definately a good option in my opinion. While there are several out there,, it's hard to beat the quality of the top selling red dot,,,, made by C-More. Pricy at about $250 each,, but they will do the job quite well. I also have an older Tasco Optima,, and I've got a Tru-Glo on a 10/22. Get a 3 MOA dot to help shoot squirrels as thats a smaller dot & won't cause you to lose your target as easily.

Thanks. I saw the Bushnell TRS25 on a youtube review. Looked pretty nice and Cabelas has them on sale for about 100 bucks. They are 3moa. I was also thinkin here a bit. I think Cabelas has them on back order. I never used a red dot site so this may sound dumb. Can you hold a red dot site like you would iron sites or does it defeat the purpose? What I mean is can you hold the dot at a 6 o'clock hold rather than right at the point of impact? I see the Bushnell 1x28 red dot but it's a 6moa.

I put a holo sight on my MkI. Kinda ungainly, but it sure shoots well.

It's a wonderful squirl/bunny/gopher gun.

I don't have any experience with the above listed sights,, only the ones I mentioned.
As for sighting a red dot sight. You do NOT have to "center" the red dot in the optics window to be accurate. Just put the dot on the target & no matter where it comes into view in the optic window,, as long as it's on the target,, pull the trigger. With a 3 MOA dot,, you can adjust it to a 6 o'clock hold or dead on,, your choice.

My local Cabelas has the TRS25 in stock. I told them to put two of them aside for me. I will pick them up either Sunday or Monday. I hope they are as good as they sound. Should be perfect for squirrel and such.

I have a TruGlo on my .22/45 with a 40mm lens. Looks a little lage but I got old bad eyes. Any squirrel with in 25yds is history. It adjust from 1 MOA up to about a 10 MOA. I use 2 MOA most all the time.

Can you give me a link to the red dot site your using? I'm open to anything. How expensive are they? I can find a 2.5moa but not a 1-10.

thanks

Gary, Don't get caught hunting squirrels with a MarkIII in Pennsylvania. Semi-autos are illegal for the hunt.

Here's my MKIII with a Millett SP1 3MOA dot. I reversed the scope rail after removing the iron sights. This setup works very well.

I have two UltraDot Red dots and like them a lot. One rides on my NRA mini14 and the other on a RedHawk.
I have a cheap 45mm Barska on my 10/22 Charger and can't complain. I switch back and forth between it and a scope. Using it this weekend for tree rats.
