Went to the range yesterday and fired at 25/50/100 yards and the shots were all over the place.
I think something besides the height/angle of the base is giving you issues.
If you were getting a group but it was high/low/whatever, that might point to the "wrong" base.
Since your groups are all over, it sounds to me like:
-your base might be loose, or
-your scope rings might be loose, or
-your scope may be haywire, internally
SOMETHING seems to be moving around.
I'd try the following:
-clean the barrel well (it's not full of lead, is it?)
-check the base/rings to be sure they're snug
-shoot a couple mags to "season" the bore
-shoot a couple more mags, "for groups"
If you are still all over the place, I'd try
-having someone else try to shoot a group with your setup, or
-swap out your scope and try again, in case your scope has internal issues
Good luck, and keep us updated.
You can do this!
