Recognize this holster?

This was on a commercial for the H&I network advertising their cowboy shows. They were showing fast clips of their cowboy heroes.

I couldn't really make out who this was. They showed Dale Robertson and Paladin on either side of this clip. I don't remember who had an open front holster like that one.

Evidently the guy was in too much of a hurry because he would have hit the ground a few feet in front of him that way.

Shooting some fast draw myself, when I started, I had a problem of shooting too quick and hitting low. I had to force myself to slow down and get the gun level before firing.

By the way, Cisco changed horses 6 times today. :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

I think it would be strange for me trying to quick draw with that rig. In fast draw with a regular holster, cocking the hammer is actually part of lifting the gun up and back and out of the holster.

Using that thing, it looks like you would have to cock the hammer first then shove the gun forward and up to get it out of the holster. Or you could draw the gun out of the holster then cock the hammer. But I think it's much easier to cock the hammer when the gun is vertical in the holster because you also have the leverage of pushing the gun against the back of the holster with the pressure of your thumb to aid in the hammer cocking. I hope I explained that clearly enough.

I don't think Paladin had an open front holster. That picture on your link doesn't show an open front holster. I didn't say it was either Dale Robertson or Paladin. I just said that pic was in between them.

The only thing even close that I remember was Johnny Ringo's completely open front holster for that big and heavy Lemat revolver.

Trivia: The gun used in the show was an original Civil War Lemat. It was converted to fire nine .44 rimfire cartridges. The shotgun shell was actually a .45 blank.

Lemat's are pretty neat guns, here's mine. The derringers are .22 cal Colts.
