Ruger Single Six serial number 557016 5 1/2 " barrel. Took it out of my range bag loaded it stepped up to the firing line and no rear sight blade. The spring is still in there and the screw is still there but the blade is gone. Only thing I can think is I must have hooked it when I wiped the gun down and it came out. I took the entire rear sight from my 6 1/2" serial number 535355 and swapped it out with the 5 1/2" . Minor re sighting and ready to go. Now I would like to replace the blade. What size do I need and where can I get one. This is a 1968 gun so I'm not sure if I have to call that special number Ruger has for old guns or if a current blade would fit. Thanks for any help.

Basically there are two types of blades. One is flat along the bottom, ( the part you don't see when installed,) & one that has a "bump" along the lower edge. If your sight base has a tiny cut-out in the slot, (as viewed from the top) it needs the bump type blade. If the slot is straight w/o any cut-out notch, then you need the flat based blade.

There's more than two avaiable GP's and Redhawks have a wider notch and there are also white outline blades blades that you can order . Best is to have a booklet and the prt.# you want .

He was talking about the Single-Six model. In that model, I do believe there are only two types of adjustable blades.
