rare 44mag. flattop?

This 44mag.flattop is being offered for sale to a friend of mine and I think it might be rather rare.Serial #29783, round triger guard,xr3-red grip frame, unfluted cylinder.According to my pocket reference there are only seven known fitting this set up and the serial # falls into this range.Now the bad part,wrong wood grips,heavy cylinder line,converted(no old parts),and red insert cut into front sight.The gun around 95% otherwise.The seller is asking $350.00 which I think is still a good price.Any help or info is apprecated.

Yea, but how do you ever prove that is the way it left the factory. I don't think Ruger even knows
Just very easy to change out those parts.
Even if as desribed it would be a rare gun for sure. The sight and transfer bar can be fixed. $350 is a good price sort out the small sh$t later

Very interesting variation, for sure. At that price it's a "no brainer", IMHO.
I'll assume a 6-1/2" barrel. Have you obtained a shipping date?

Barrel length? Is the Ruger eagle logo on the barrel?
Yes, as flatgate said...the all-important ship date is a must here. If shipped late enough I don't think there will be anybody to argue its originality.

My friend did buy the flattop as I told him that I would take it if he did not.The barrel length is 7 1/2 and yes it does have the eagle.I will call records tomorrow to get the ship date and post info.
