Range destroyed by Tornado

My gun range was in the direct path of the tornado last weekend from Eustace to to Canton, Texas. I was out today helping to clean up. It's going to take a lot more work with some bigger power tools and torches. The manager told me it was an F4 tornado and it just amazes me wind can do all this. What is not pictured are two heavy steel shipping containers used for storage. They got tossed about 200 yards and are off in some trees behind the range. It's going to be hard to get them because of the swampy ground between the road and where they landed.

this used to be an awning over the rimfire range.

This was a tower with a lookout perch on top probably 50 feet high.

Some damage on some houses along the torando's path. Not pictured is a church on a backcountry road. It was just gone as I drove passed. Some church members were cleaning up the remains.

It's all very sad...

Oh, man, that's too bad Nothing's ever the same after an F-4. 4/27/11 my little town took a direct hit by what was reported to be an F-4. The landscape will never be the same again, here or there. I hope you get the range up and going soon.

Thank goodness no one was injured. I have had the duvious luck to have lived through one, that killed two up the street from me. If I never see another it will be fine with me.

Thanks for the moral support. I really like the range manager, but he is pretty sad about the whole thing.

And wouldn't you know it, I just bought a new gun. I'm going to have to wait to shoot it. I guess this gives me a chance to clean all my guns until I can go shooting again.

It's so strange, I took the long way home and sort of meandered along the tornado's path a-ways. Some houses were leveled and others a hundred yards away looked completely untouched.

And no, nobody was hurt. Early in the day on Saturday there was a pistol class at the range, but the tornado hit about 6:30 pm or so.

As noted,,, the best thing is nobody got hurt.
But to see the strength of mother nature that God delivers,, can be sobering. It can all be repaired & replaced,,, but a single life can not.
Sad to see it happen,, and I wish I was able to be there to help re-build it for y'all.

It's frightening what wind can do. We had the "micro burst" hit East of us years ago that wound its way between homes, destroying some and leaving others completely untouched that were right by the flattened homes.

Thanks for all the moral support. Y'all are wonderful...without a doubt.

I found Amazon has good prices on targets so I bought 300 targets. Now as soon as we get a new storage shed we can have a place to store that sort of stuff.
