Question for Ruger Commander owners

Was reading Rugers SR 1911 manual and found where they stated ( on page 11 ) " Each pistol is shipped with one 7-round and one 8-round stainless steel magazine ". Mine had two 7 rounders packed with it. Did you guys get one of each ? I'd kinda like to have an eight rounder ... I'd assume the 8-round magazine has a base pad ?

The gov. size sr1911 comes with one of each. The Commander comes with two 7 round mags. They are using the same manual for both models.

Yes the Ruger 8 round mag has the base pad. Ed

Yep, my SR1911 CMD came with two 7 round magazines, while my full size, 5" bbl'd model came with an 8 and a 7. HTH's Rod

Yes to above and the 8 round Ruger mags, and other 8 round mags I have tried work fine in my Commander. My guess it may be a supply and demand thing. I don't know.

Could be the commander length 1911's are popular ccw's.The seven rounders without the base pad conceal better than the 8 rounder with.
