Problems with RAR rotary magazines

Hey folks,
I've just purchased 2 new RARs in the last 2 months and just recently started shooting them. One is the compact in 7mm-08 for my 11 yr old son and liked his so much I picked up a 30-06 for me. I first noticed a problem while at the range sighting in the 30-06. with 4 rounds in the mag, start firing -first 2 rounds load no problem then the bottom 2 were stuck down. had to put my finger on the top round and push it down a bit to get it to come up. this happens about 80% of the time.
I was shooting 180 gr remington core-lokt sp ammo and initially thought they may have been too heavy for the small, plastic mag. i tried some 150 gr and had the same results.
Since I realized an issue I tried to get the 7mm-08 to do the same and although it isn't as frequently, I could get the same result some of the time.
At the range it didn't seem critical but last week we both were on a moose hunt and the last night I had to fire more than one shot at a trophy bull by the time I got to the 3rd round in the mag it was stuck down and had to push it down to free it. Was a critical time for that to occur.
Anyone else have this issue with their mags? Is there a way to disassemble the mag and tighten the spring?
Thanks

Just a questions more or less since I do not have one of these rifles. Is it possible under the recoil of the first couple of shots the other shells are sliding a bit forward and making contact with the magazine body not allowing it to turn or cycle the next round? Next time it happens look and see if the shell is all the way back in the magazine placement area, meaning primer end to the far back of the magazine. Again I am not sure this is the problem or could happen but I am willing to bet there is a little play in the area when they are turned down and with enough force could be pushed forward out of place.

I have not had a problem with my RAR 06. Whats the story on that last night trophy bull?

Bill

Thanks to all for the input, I'll reply to all that responded thus far:

I have not noticed if the cartridges are sliding in the mag due to recoil but I can move them back and forh slightly. I believe that the mags are designed to work with other calibers that have the same parent casing but may vary in length to some degree. I.E.- my 30-06 mag could be possibly used in a RAR .270, I have had Remington 7400 and 742's that built their mags to fit multiple calibers.

Bill,
I'm ashamed to admit that due to my own lack of familiarity to this RAR rifle, he got away.
First sighting I tried to fire the rifle wouldn't shoot, thought instantly that I had forgot to load a round in the breech, so I pulled the bolt back to load and a full cartridge flew out. Loaded and fired and the bull went down about 200yds away, a few SECOND later he got up and started running, took aim and tried to fire again-CLICK! The 3rd cartridge down in the mag was stuck so I opened the bolt and pushed on them to free them up and fired 2 more hail Mary shots as he ran down over a hill and out of sight. Found no blood or moose after 7 combined hrs of searching, now my fault with the 1st failed attempts to fire - I was only sqeezing the trigger safety! I felt like an Idiot!

I believe the tension on the rotor can be adjusted with an Allen wrench on the end of the magazine. Loosen the nut up a little on the sticking mag.

Sighted in my daughters RAR 30-06 today. First time we shot it so I was a little concerned about the magazine issue mentioned here. Fortunately everything worked great.

Now I want one for myself.

Have only put a couple boxes of ammo through mine. No problems so far. Side note, when buying spare mags. shop a little. Gander Mountain wanted $64 for a short one, An independent sporting goods store Grand Rapids MN $35.
