problem with wife's car getting worse...

I'm of the belief that if there is a problem with a vehicle and it continues to get worse one should do their best to fix it... seems my wife in regards to this does not think there is anything wrong with the car....

Here's the back ground information... 10 years ago while I was out of town my wife had planned to paint a brick wall and called me on my cellphone that morning to get the information on where the painting supplies were stored... I told her where I thought they were but if all else failed go up the road to the local hardware store and just spend 12-15 bucks on a roller kit and brush... she called me back that night and this is what she said: " we went down to get the paint supplies and could not find them in your damn mess... and so I went into town and bought a Porsche." A boxter to be precise.....

now here is the problem....
for the last year or so it is getting harder and harder for me to get into and out of this damn car.... the problem is getting worse and I think we need to take the car to the local Porsche mechanic and see what is wrong.

She likes for us to take it to the lake.... 45 minutes away.... she only drives it around town and so we need to get it out on the road.... to open it up.... I do try to keep it under 90mph.... in third gear that is around 6500 rpm.... it think..... electric governor starts cutting in at around 7200.... in fifth gear that is just over 150mph.

It seems you are suffering from the dreaded bigger pants syndrome. The only solution is to get a full size 4x4 pickup and sell the itty bitty car.

I use to drive a car with the motor in the trunk. I think it was a VW and had trouble getting in and out of it. My next car was a Buick Riviera with the motor in the front and problem went away.

I hope you have a rear view mirror? Heck at 7,000 RPM's I doubt the Mounties could catch up! :shock:

Does Porsche make a Boxster convertible? Maybe you could make a limited edition of one with a sawzall...
Just remember that it's a lot harder to get the roof back up on those custom jobs.

I've got the same problem with the wife's 2004 Tbird. I'm 6'1" 260 and it's way too small for comfortable motoring. Glad it has zero trunk space or she'd want to take it on vacation.

I have this noise coming from the passenger side of my Jeep and it seems to be getting worse every year!? I only notice it when my 5 foot, 65 year old wife tries to climb in on her side? :mrgreen:

The problem is caused by incorrect storage. For instance it's very common for clothes stored in unshielded closets to shrink. Pants are very susceptible to this problem. The answer for the Boxter is simply to line your garage with copper mesh well grounded. This is a pretty common problem for smaller automobiles, larger vehicles will also shrink but they have extra room to start with so it takes longer for the shrinkage to become apparent.

Can definitely relate to this part, and here my wife and my thinking part ways. If the tires wear out, it's time for a new car. Battery dies? She goes car shopping. All just routine things, time to buy a car. She has always leaned towards Camaro's tho there have been others. Fortunately I could buy what she wanted......but when she decided to buy a Mercedes I put my foot down. She bought a Saturn Vue instead!
