Problem with 2/45 MKll

could be a couple of things, and being you say you try other mags, that eliminates one of them....the other is the hold open lever itself, they do get bent (off set) ever so slightly, and will "slip" off...the otehr thing is the front ,lower corner (edge) of the bolt face, it can get "chipped" worn, rounded off and again, let it slip off...last thing is the ammo, some 'hot" hyper velocity ammo can and will make the bolt "bounce" and slip off....

Another idea. Many folks used the release button to always release the bolt. That can also cause the slightly chipped edge rugerguy mentioned. You should always pull the bolt to the rear & then release it when you want to load the chamber from the slide lock position.

Thanks!

I just got home- it's dark so I think I'll look tomorrow in strong daylight. It strikes me that I may be coming up a little short in magazine maintenance; I'll check that too. And thanks, Contender, I always do pull the bolt back to take the pressure off the bolt release. I have a friend who just depresses the button; makes me grind my teeth.

Took it down today. I found that the bolt is not chipped, but worn to almost 45 degrees where it meets the bolt stop. The bolt stop shows matching wear. The surfaces look polished or burnished. Short of replacing the bolt and stop assembly, I don't see a fix. The bolt holds back when the bolt stop is operated manually, or upon inserting a magazine and racking it. Perhaps when parts are more easily available, I'll replace them.

Thanks for the advice!

Jeff
