With a shortage of primers has anyone used small rifle primers in place of small pistol primers? I have a good supply of the Federal small rifle primers .

Why not go to the classifieds to offer a trade for your needed small pistol primers. I'm sure you can work out a fair deal.

Yes, I've been using them for many years now and see no difference.

Many IPSC shooters routinely use SRPs instead of SPPs. I have used rifle primers in .40 S&W with no issues during shortages.

Would it be safe to use large pistol magnum primers while reloading the 38-40 WCF? Would I need to decrease the powder charge to compensate for the magnum primer?

I have always heard to reduce by 10% when going to magnum primers.
