Price for a Single Six....

What's a reasonable price for a used SS (in blue) with & w/o the extra .22m cylinder? Assuming it's in OK condition, not necessarily pristine.

Had one years & years ago, sold and always wanted it back. Thanks.

OK, so what if you found one that was really used, dull finish maybe some rust, but the bore was clean & the action was smooth.....what would that be worth?

well we had 3 of them at the show this weekend, sold one pretty nice #104xxx range gun but it was "converted" it went for $200, sold a #194xxx range one with walnut grips ,NOT 'converted ' for $300, and still have one here in the #108xxx range, NOT converted ,with black hard rubbers on it and it did NOT sell for $300, so go figure..........

the term "converted" means that the old model lockwork is removed, by the factory (Ruger) and they install a "safety updated, refit lock work" that makes the gun safe to shoot and use ALL six chambers instead of doing the "old way" ala Colt and other Colt type, clones as well as the "
old model" Rugers that when carried, the hammer must be down ( over) an 'empty' chamber, removing the chance of an accidentle discharge accident or injury...........this is done by them at NO cost to the owner, but it can and does affect the value of the gun in question if the original parts are NOT still with the gun...............depending on model, these "parts kits" can run from $65 for the single six up to around $175 for the OM Super BH with their wide hammers, ergo the price value change, loss................

So, if I bought an old model, I could, at no personal cost other than shipping, send it back to Ruger and they'd "convert" it?

Call them and ask & get the details and they will send you a "package" to boot (box and label)

Most of us do not send back any OM Rugers for the safety conversion. In fact, there has been a recent post where the factory KEPT an OM Flatgate and replaced it with a NM. Why? They determined the gun was "unsafe" w/o any direct explaniation as to why.

Now, we do not know WHY Ruger chose to scrap a flatgate. But in this day & age of liability issues, they HAVE to be careful. They are the ones who originally made the gun, and if they get it back & see something that could cause an injury eetc, they could be held liable. Just business. But, if we wanted to keep the parts in service, then we do not send back any OM's.

I think I would have had to see a lawyer and demand my gun back. It is not their property.This is supposed to be America.

I agree with your sentiments, but it's likely easier to NOT send the gun back, order the parts needed and be your own gunsmith.

Really? That sounds way too high to me. I would think closer to $300-350 in the condition described in the OP. I would think $450 if it was LNIB. I could be wrong though.
