Not that long ago most in a similar situation wouldn't make it. Even back in the 40's& 50's you almost weren't considered a parent unless you lost one somewhere along the way. People used to have big families so maybe a few would make it to reproduce. What medicine is capable of now is amazing. Lord be with that child.

Please let us know any progress. My grand daughter was a preemie and we were all scared for quite some time but now she is nine years old and all went well over time. Will be thinking of the child frequently and the family. Best of luck.

When my daughter was born, she could hold nothing down and an upper and lower IG showed a "blockage" in her intestines. Operated on at 2 days old, they discovered NOT a "blockage", but a GAP plus numerous flat spots. They said somewhere early in the pregnancy her small intestine got twisted and the body re-absorbed the loop so no infection; She spent 13 days in intensive care and we had to buy a special "pre-digested" formula for her. I dont recall how much of her intestines she lost and we were told she would probably not grow as tall as she might have.
It was a trying time and thank the LORD she survived.
That was in 1972; She turns 51 next month and is 5'4 " tall.
