Wayno, they are required to tell you what could happen. Every pharmaceutical commercial does that. Do your homework and get a good surgeon. My cataract surgeon also did my SIL's cornea transplant. I knew he was good. Piece of cake! Confidence in the surgeon helps.
When I had to have a heart stint put in, it was the Dr that got his training at Mayo Clinic. He still gave me the warning.
Edit to add, he got all the difficult surgeries (same category as mine) but it helps. When they came to get me to take me into surgery, they said, just listen, don’t say anything unless he asks, he is very serious and there’s no joking around.
I like a serious surgeon.
