Has anyone used a Power Custom half cock hammer trigger kit in a new model Single Six .22?
I'm thinking about it because I have the kit in my two of my larger Ruger single actions and am very pleased.
My Single Six has a long heavy pull and I think a sluggish hammer fall. The gun is clean, no burrs or wired wear marks so i'm considering the purchase.

Welcome to this forum.

The single six uses the same length hammer spring and spring strut as the large frames but obviously the hammer is shorter so you have much less leverage to cock the hammer. I never picked up a factory single six that had a satisfactory hammer pull. Get a lighter spring or cut off about 4 coils. Try unhooking one or both legs of the trigger return spring to improve the trigger pull, get a lighter spring or do a google search for spring bending techniques.

Take the hammer out of the gun and look for scratch marks indicating it's rubbing on main frame or/and grip frame. I've had to relieve the inside of the frame on several guns.

Yes the 1/2 cock hammers work great in single sixes but won't help if you have the above problems.

As a side, I checked with Power Custom about a Bisley set for my Single Six, they said 6-8 months out for a drop in half cock. Just in case your looking at a Bisley hammer.

I hope so too Jim. I just purchased a hammer for my 32 mag but if they really are that close to a drop in half cock set I think I am going to wait to fit it. I really like the way the old model SS handles and would love to come as close as possible with my 32.

Not too difficult to make an OM .32.

I'm working on making a Stainless New Model now from a .22 Stainless with Vaquerito cyl and barrel.
