Has anyone here installed a Power Custom #5 grip frame as a DIY project? I have been thinking of installing one on a flat top 44 special as an EK tribute gun. If this has been addressed previously, please direct me to the thread.
I have one that Hamilton did for me and he said the only real tricky part was not bring the "ear" height down but judiciously recontouring the frame where it goes from the upper ears into the hammer well to make a smooth transition. Ron lists some ideas on this as well on his sight.
Here is the 41 Bowen did for me and the area I mentioned above.
Here's one I did with the Power Custom SAA grip frame and Bisley hammer. I did not find it all that difficult to fit except for the hammer base which I had to re-radius to match the frame. Just take your time.
I did the fitting and grips on this one. The grip frame has quite a bit of material that needs to be removed for proper fit. I did not want to have the gun re-blued at this time so I did all the metal work on the grip frame. I did manage to take a little to much off in a couple of areas but all in all not to bad.
I still need to have the grip frame blued but I have been shooting it quite a bit and really like the feel of it.

Thank you all for the advice and photos. I'm thinking it could be accomplished without re-bluing the cylinder frame, if one works slowly and checks for fit often.
