Possible GP100 hammer problem?

Hey guys,

I have a NIB 3" gp100 ss. I've only dry fired it a few times and haven't been to the range with it yet. I've noticed that the right side of hammer scrapes against the frame as it comes down. It's not hitting the frame so much as rubbing against it. The hammer even looks ever so slightly off to the right.
Is this something to be concerned about? Should I contact Ruger?

Any advice for this newby would be greatly appreciated.

Many GPs will have or get rub marks on the sides of the hammer or trigger. Nothing to worry about. You can address that little problem if you want to with a little polishing or shims but for the most part it doesn't hurt anything.

...and the two other questions new GP owners ask. ...Yes the transfer bar will rattle if you shake the gun and ...Yes the ejector rod seems a little loose but that is the way it is supposed to be.

+1 for shimmin the hammer ,it`ll also make the trigger pulls more consistent .

Depending on your skills, working on your Ruger revolvers might become a fun hobby. The hammer scrapes because the tolerances on the hammer pin allow it to wobble. And, the cutout for the hammer might not match the hammer shape all that well. The hammer will fall and work fine, but individual adjustment with shims and stones is necessary to get precise operation. Or maybe just eliminate the scraping.

Same for the ejector. The ejector rod is a loose fit in the cylinder and I can't think of a way to make that assembly work like a precision Swiss watch. But as long as it moves back and forth you are in business. Take it apart and have a close look at how things work and how they fit together. Go slowly, smooth up the roughness and burrs and the operation will improve. Or just ignore the small details and have fun shooting.
