I just got a p94 and while I was looking it over I removed the grips and found that the left grip had been "hollowed out" to allow for a spring to fit. the "hollowed out" part didn't look very professional and appeared to be more like a "bubba" job.
The spring in question appears to be the "trigger bar spring" but since I am unfamiliar with the p94 I am uncertain if it is the correct spring. It makes a large loop down towards the grip and probably wouldn't fit right without the hollowed out part.
I took the grips off my p85 and p89 and neither have a spring like the one on the p94. I also took the grips off my p90 and it has a spring more similar but it doesn't have a large loop like the p94 has.
Is this the way the p94 is supposed to be?

That spring extends out of the frame further on the P94 dwd than earlier P series guns. You would need to cut some material out of the left grip panel intended for an earlier P series gun for them to clear the spring of the P94. A little more relief at the inside top would work.

It doesn't sound like anything out of the ordinary other than a little grip mod.

Are they the black checkered grip panels or the black slotted panels? Both were popular on earlier guns.

They are slotted grips and they don't fit perfect which is probably explained by the mod.

Thanks

You can go to the Ruger site and download the manual free. But the spring you are talking about is correct. The grips are not.

There are a lot of grips out there for this.

What I would suggest is to leave the other grip off and see how the spring works by the hollowed out panel to be sure it doesn't hang.

I an trying to mod some uncle mike grips to make them work on the P94. I just about got it but need to polish the inside a bit to be absolutly sure the spring doesn't hang.

Congrates on your new P94!

Are the grips for p94dc the same? Ebay has a set of factory grips for a dc.

There should be no difference dwd. Grip manufacturers list only one grip for the P94. The three of mine have the exact same grip. P93 grips should fit also.

Hogue makes aluminum panels also. I haven't seen a picture of them yet though.

thanks wix, they also make a rosewood set and they "shore look purdy"

If you want factory go to Ruger they are only 5 bucks plus shipping which is 3.50.
Personally I would get a set of hogues. You can find them for less the 25 if you look a bit.
