I bought this box and inside was a manual. Inside the manual was a receipt. It is for a model PP94DLW. I have not heard of this variant before.

But check out the price.

IIRC my Beretta 92 INOX with tritium factory sights cost about that much in 1997.

Nice history lesson on pistols in the 80's and 90's to a degree... the interesting thing at the end is the writer implies the P94 was designed and built for the 40 cal. S&W and then in the pictured at the top he shows it in 9mm. Just a bit confusing.

Yeah, I went back and edited the article out. My main thing was this variant listed on the receipt. I lost everything while I was editing what you saw and had to start over. And look at the price. Insane.

I was shopping Ruger P guns about that time and I don't recall the price being that high. There must be something special goin on, with the gun or the buyer.

I don't know anything about the gun , but I do know the gun shop.
Talk about bringing back memories.
West of The Pecos was one of the best gun shops in Tucson at the time.
It was my favorite gun shop at the time.
They are no longer in business.

PP94DLW.
PP is the tactical finger groove grips. 94 of course is the model, "D" is decocker only, "L" is built in laser and "W" means it was shipped with an extra 10 round mag.
You beat me to it. How much are these guns typically worth these days in good functioning condition?

There were just over 1800 of the "P" Laser guns made in 7 different configurations. I have managed to collect six of the variations. Three are from Ruger factory auctions on GB, the other three I found in the wild.
I have paid from $900 to $1500 each.
You should buy my PP94DLW to go with your receipt....only 208 of that variation made:cool:

If anybody is interested in having one of these, please PM me.
My focus has shifted.....
Cheers,
JAYDAWG

I might do that when I have some cash next month.

I got into the P Series as they fit my hand perfectly. Just like. Beretta 92 does. I need to get an AR, a shotgun, and a 10/22 before a permit to purchase scheme comes into play in my state in 4 months. After that, I won’t be buying any more guns until that crap gets overturned,

We are also facing a mag ban. My son got me back into shooting in July of 2024. He gifted me a couple of nice Colts and a Super Wrangler and set me up with a good basic seed of ammo.
‘I had given up on shooting 7 or 8 years ago as my health had got too bad to do it and sold all but 2 pistols.

I did better in 2024, but have gone back downhill in 2025. Back when I was a young intern in a white coat almost 30 years ago, I could afford things like HK’s and such, but since becoming disabled, and having burned through one small pension already, I have leaned toward mid to low priced combat handguns.

I have a few higher end ones, but those aren’t for catty. I would hate to lose a 3K pistol to the cops if I ever had to pull the trigger. My wife and I are going to take some money out of our retirement, not much, about 2500, and I am going to buy a few more guns that we need. I am hoping to do that this week, as one of the guns I want to get is on sale dirt cheap this week.

I am going to talk to a fellow forum member whom I have bought 4 P series pistols from in the last couple of months and see if he has any DAO models.

Life has got in the way of me ever getting a P-gun with the laser. I've tried several times but had to wait for one reason or another. Probably will never get one but who knows. I'm still a bit of a P-nut.

Keep the P-guns alive!!

P345fan....

That would be a perfect match to go with the PP model that I sold you! I'd have a hard time passing that up if I was you! Jaydawg is a great guy to work with too! I hope you guys can work it out.

Over time, prices are always going up, Up, UP! I was quite surprised however when several LGS did not even have a Vet's Day sale as I was looking to purchase a S&W .22 Mag pistol. I guess, hopefully they will have a sale on them for Black Friday.
