I'd like to see some honest answers here.

Let's assume Ruger was still doing the design work on the new .22 SP, and we have to help them pick a grip design.

I contend that traditional grip panels on a conventional frame look better, are more classic, and a .22 doesn't need a recoil absorbing monogrip style. Also, if the gun were handed down to your grandkids or great-grandkids, what is a plastic grip gonna look like in twenty years?

I prefer Houge rubber grips on almost any revolver, to include the SP101.

Well so far at least 3 out of 13 like my idea. That's 23%.

The other ten like the original......

I guess they need a soft grip so those hard kicking .22s don't hurt their widdle hands.......

I'll probably grab a couple different styles to see how they feel. Grip are very easy to return or re-sell if they don't fit.

I like the current grip with the panels shape. but would like to see it done as all wood instead of rubber and plastic.

I think I will try the stock grips out first and then maybe by a set of custom badger grips maybe or something along those lines.

If I had one, I'd try to find the find the biggest block of inletted walnut I could, and then shape and finish them myself to something that pleased both my hand and my eye. I might end up with something along the lines of Herrett's on a roundbutt Smith K frame, as that's a combo that both looks and feels good to me.

Recoil reduction is only part of preferring a rubber grip.

A rubber grip also provides more friction with the hand and allows better tactile control.

Kind of funny that you beg honest answers, then demean folks that don't agree with your answer.

I for one prefer the peg-style GP100/SP101 grips on my revolvers because I can grip the guns better. I had an Redhawk and a Single Six and I sold them both. I just couldn't warm up to those other grips.

If you don't like the peg grips, you are entitled to your own opinion. Just don't be critical of people for disagreeing with you.

Wood over plastic...everytime, since we won't be in a combat situation with this pistol. Snake has a great idea, make your own. I'm working on a pair for a colt cobra .38spl. It takes me forever to make a pair because i'm always afraid of removing too much material and constantly trying the fit, but when your done you will be very proud of yourself. I also like the idea of obtaining different kinds and trying them out, then return the ones you don't want.

My SP 9mm wears Trausch grips. They fit my hand perfectly and keep my knuckle from getting banged up during recoil. When my SP .22 arrives, I'll probably stick with the stock grips dressed up with Lett inserts.

I have a set of Hogue deluxe wood grips waiting to go on my Sp 22 when I can afford it. I don't see what is wrong with what is on there. It offers FAR more versatility than any of the other designs you listed in your poll.

Just my opinion

I love the look of wood on a stainless gun. Most of my revolvers have custom hogue grips with the fishscale texturing, even my smith 629 44 magnum although that gun is a cannon and it does hurt to shoot it a lot. Mainly in the wallet. BOOM, there goes a double cheeseburger. BOOM there goes a large fry. :D pretty soon you have shot your lunch money.

But I digress. I will probably put some fine wooden grips on my SP101 22LR.

Just haven't decided which ones yet.
