After getting to play with my gunsmith's AR at the range a couple of weeks ago, I decided I needed my own. Ordered the parts as soon as we got back to his shop and picked it up a couple of days ago. I've got a Vortex Optics Sparc II Red Dot Sight, a new foregrip, and some other accessories showing up tomorrow, as well as a handful of 33rd mags on order.

The pictures do not do the cerakote justice, she's a real beauty and I am looking forward to putting her through the paces next weekend.

Order you some Glock 22 rd mags. I prefer them over the 33's. Banish makes new LiteWt 9mm suppressor that would go good On it too. My AR PDW has 5" bbl. As long as I shoot 147's it stays subsonic

I also have Tippman AR pistol in 22LR. 5" also. Suppressor stays on it. Holosun optic w Laser/Lite combo. A real critter killn machine
Forgot to add, My 9mm has Binary trigger. Would have prefered to had it on the Tippmann, but it has to be sent to them for installation

Thanks for the post, thinckley. Now, a 6"-barrel pistol version would be even better.

If I'm not mistaken, an AR pistol chambered in .22 WRM would offer, at close range, most of the benefits of a .223, at (maybe) a modestly lower cost per round and, if carefully designed, less weight. Seems like it would certainly be a better performer than the 9mm pistol-chambered ARs - flatter bullet trajectory, much greater muzzle velocity, offset by lighter weight and more expensive ammo cost.

Am I missing something?

BCA offers 22Mag uppers:

That is a 10", but I imagine, if you know what you are doing you could easily make a 6". I would rather have the extra "punch" of a 9mm for the things the AR-9 is designed for, but a 22Mag AR could be a lot of fun for some of the other uses, it would be great for decimating the local prairie dog colony....

They really aren't remotely in the same ballpark, however the 22 magnum is currently around .10 cents cheaper per round with a lot less recoil.

From a rifle, I agree. But from a 6" barrel the 223 and 22M aren't all that far apart, and the 223 will have a massive muzzle blast and concussion to the shooter that won't be nearly as significant in 22M. For across the room distances I would be fine with 22M, or even 9mm. Unlike animals, people aren't all that hard to kill.
