They must be finally realizing their self induced fiasco is killing them.

I was a paid subscriber. All that meant was, for $2.99 a month (paid once a year) I had more storage, and zero ads.

Worked pretty well til they upped the charge to $399 per year. I transferred all my photos and bailed. Or so I thought. The last time I had paid my account at the previous rate, the "auto payment" option did not work, so I had to manually allow the payment. This was over a year ago, before their implosion.

Then to my surprise, I recently received a charge for my upgraded service for an account I thought was no longer on auto-pay, and further, I thought the account was cancelled. $2.99 times 12 months. I contested this, and they did provide some small print proof that under any circumstances, refunds will not be made, and by originally subscribing, I agreed to this. Okay. They win. But...Although they've cancelled my ad-free status upgrade, they still will not allow me to cancel my free photobucket account. They will not accept the cancellation via e-mail, and I cannot find on their website a means to cancel. And since my ad-free status is cancelled, now when I login to photobucket, I am inundated with so many popup ads that I can't navigate anywhere, in hopes of finding a place to cancel my account.

Then, unbelievably, on top of this...

Photobucket just sent me an e-mail saying their $399 a year 3rd party hosting service has now been reduced to $100. They must realize by now they are sinking. I hope they do.

You haven't asked my advice but if I were in that situation I would dispute the charge with my credit card company and lodge a complaint with my state attorney general.

I have thought about this. When I have re-read my contract with them, I do not believe I have a leg to stand on. And there's no doubt they designed it this way. I will eat the $34.99 charge if I can get divorced from them. I did finally find the place on my account page where I can delete my account, and I did so. As fast as I'd find just a little information, they'd cover it with and ad and I'd have to start over. They are crooked people.

Although I will not contest the charge, I will contact my State's Attorney General to report these practices.

Last time I checked you could fill out an online form with the AG's office, Wayno. I'd contest the charge as well. Your bank/cc company may see things differently, especially when you tell them how impossible it has been to cancel the service. You're lucky they didn't up-charge you for the $399.

I had a similar charge from a life insurance company who wouldn't refund the charge for a term policy that expired after 10 years. They just changed the automatic deduction from $57 a month to $293/month and kept the limited 10 year term policy going... without any notice of any kind. My bank disagreed with their practice and refunded the money.

The question is if you did, in fact, cancel. If you just pulled your pix, then
you are correct about no leg to stand on.

I'm still having problems with CenturyLink and a cancellation with them.
I . . . did . . . cancel in writing, and sent the payment check with the
cancellation. They denied receiving it, until I mentioned to the PUC that
they had cashed the check. They are still trying to get me to pay for
several months of service I didn't receive.

DO file a written complaint. That is the only thing that keeps me from
having to pay for service not received.

Sink on and disappear Photobucket I am so done with you First you were unreliable and kept my anti virus and malware going off on you, then you tried to rape me for 3rd party, so I decided to remove all my content but your web site performs so bad that I could not access or remove my photos, so there they sit, I have not looked at it since they blew all my nice Colorado photography being shared with you wonderful Ruger Forum folks who give me encouragement and really enjoy the photos I post.
I went through, verified as best I could that I had hard drive copies of everything I ever put on there, so be gone don't let the malware hit you in the butt on the way out. I have Imgur, but last time I tried to load a picture on here, it failed me too
