I have found out that, apparently, Google Chrome and Foxfire have found a way to access the photos that Photobucket.com does not now allow you to post to 3rd party sites anymore, without paying a high price. .

Viable, provided former/current PhotoBucket users haven't deleted all their albums/pics, the Google Chrome and Firefox browsers now have an extension called "Photobucket Embed Fix", that will allow the display of 3rd party hosted images, an end-around PB's new demands.

It will fix all your broken pics - no need for you to do anything, it runs entirely in the background.

To Install:

Click on Tools > Add-Ons (Or press CTL+Shift+A) > select "Extensions" > enter "photobucket embed" in the Search box (upper right corner) > then click the install button.

THANKS, I'll pass.... Photobucket is not one that I would want to be associated with; even for FREE.

Just how long do you think Photobucket will take to come up with a "fix" to fix that?

I have only read about this and do not know the details of how it works. However, …I would not expect it to work for the OLD broken links, only NEW links established with this workaround.

Hope I'm wrong though.

Just installed the fix. Let's see if it works.

Yes, it worked but I will continue to use IMGUR if I need it.

The pic above was on a new link. But, I looked up some of my very old posts here on the forum and the pics did show.

The problem is, I'm thinking that if you do install the pics, your pics will show for you but not for anyone else if they haven't installed the fix on their computer.

Huh. It actually works! I can see my own avatar here again on Chrome.

Unfortunately, I do most of my browsing in AOL (I'm just used to it and have all my favorites set up there). But good to know if I really WANT to see something sometime, I can go to Chrome and see it.

Your avatar shows fine for me on AOL.

You won't be able to see mine on Chrome until you do the fix. I can't see mine now on AOL, but I can on Chrome.

Yes, your avatar is showing. Were you a paid customer previously?

Huntsman, Snake...You state here that the suggested scheme is working for you. I cannot see your avatars.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here. When PhotoBucket was a viable hosting service, they were paid for their service by either looking at their ads, which were absolutely out of control, or paying the three-bucks a month. They were up front with this. Folks figured out a way to pirate their service, and do neither. I suppose in desperation, they cut most folks off and raised the price ridiculously for the folks that were not previously paid customers.

And now, folks have figured out another way to pirate their site?

I was a paying customer, paid my 3-bucks a month, and watched zero ads. They are giving me a year and a half more of this previous contract I had with them. That just gives me more time to sort out my photos, and ultimately walk away from them, as it'll not be worth $399 a year to me when my current plan expires. But I'm sure not gonna go looking for a way to steal their service. There are similar services, and some far better, that are still free.

Do you have the fix installed on your own computer? My avatar is on my own website and has nothing to do with photobucket.

Wayno,

As I said, you don't see my photo because you don't have the fix installed on your machine. I really don't care because I don't use photobucket anymore. I copied all my photobucket pics over to my free supplied space on my internet provider.

I guess people think that once they install the fix on their computer that everyone will see their photos. Not true.
