I realized that just moving to another hosting site was not really doing much 'against' the folks at photo bucket... I've sent them a couple of emails, sometimes I get a robot response and sometimes it appears to be a real person... but my point is that if I leave my account there then they will still use me in their numbering system... So, I fought my way through their multiple pop up adds and finally figured out how to delete my account and all the pictures I still had there after copying.....

To delete a Free Photo#ucket account:

Log into your Photobucket account.
Place your mouse on the Profile icon next to Plans (top right), and choose Settings. Your settings will display.
Click Here if already logged in!
Click the Account tab and scroll to the bottom of the page.
Click Delete this account.
Enter a reason, slide the slider to prove that you are a human and click the Delete My Account button.

Hi,

I've had problems with PB since long before the latest changes, so the other day I went and simply deleted all my pictures. It told me 28% of my allocated space was full prior to deleting them. Afterward, it still tells me 24% of that space is full, even though anything I can still access says there are no pictures here. Does anybody know about that, as in, do they still have all the stuff I've put in there, but I just can't get it? That's not a pleasing thought...

When I deleted my account I remember something on the bottom of the page that said they'd keep my account for some period of time (I think it was like 72 hours or something like that) in case I changed my mind. Maybe that's why it was showing that?

We just left ours after archiving everything we both had up. Unless they change their policy no reason to sign into Photobucket. I think they will find that many people are doing that as opposed to paying.

I still do not understand this dissing of photobucket. Last night (Thursday, 7/13/2017) at 11:00 PM I posted a classified ad here on the RF using a photo from my PB account. It took about 7 minutes to poen a new tab, log onto my PB account, go to my specific firearm library, open a certain photo, copy the photo, and then paste it to my RF classified post. It worked fine. Is 7 minutes excessive to you all??

BTW, the firearm sold this AM.

If you are not paying extra for the 'no-ad' version then your account will be hijacked like the rest of ours has been. The premium accounts have gotten a reprieve for a short time.

example

What??? they just posted a picture for me. I wish they would stop playing games.

And I just received word from photobucket, since I have been paying 3-bucks a month for ad-free premium storage, they will continue to honor their contract with me, and I will be allowed complete use including 3rd-party hosting until the end of 2018.

does it really work that way, or does their system only count the number of times their ad is displayed? in other words, does a program like ADBLOCK cut out their count & reduce their profits? from the responses I get it seems as if that is the case.

I deleted my account today & it stated tomorrows date! I suppose it is their way of asking to think about changing my mind,...not!

Kicked the Bucket comes to mind & it won't be the last time either!

Well, that's interesting. I guess everybody jumping ship on them is having an effect.

I would have been willing to suck up 6-10 dollars a month .... especially if they had asked me nice .... even the add blocking offer was kind of like... you either do this or we will overwhelm you with adds... it was near impossible to navigate deleting the account for all the adds popping up in front.... not just one, but multiple windows....is there a part of the computer / internet world that this actually works for?

I'm thinking since photo#ucket is based in Colorado .... the smoke might have gotten just a tad too think in their offices.

You've just been lucky so far. Millions of people haven't been lucky. Just a matter of time till they get to you. Shakedowns work that way.

I switched to IMGUR. Free, easy to use, no ad bombardment, fast. Like every other hosting site there is a learning curve, so don't expect it to be just like PB.

Can one of you please share what you are changing to. I really don't want to pay a dime, but might be persuaded to, if something works better and easier than photo bucket.

And before this fiasco, I had already been using postimage.org

Extremely easy to use. Compared to photobucket, the speed will make your head spin.

I lost interest in Photobucket a long time ago. The site was so heavy with ads that it was virtually unusable. I just stopped going there. No need to even delete my account. I'll just walk away.

My problem is by just leaving my account there... they can use me as a number... as in; "buy advertising through us we have 5 million one hundred and sixty two thousand and four customers!" even if you don't use the account you are still in a way supporting them by leaving your photos there.

The funny thing is I sent customer service a complaint about how hard it was to figure out a way to delete my account and their robot sent me a response telling me how... then about two days ago I got another automatic email asking me how helpful that email was...... So, I guess I'll continue to get emails asking me if I was satisfied with their help in letting me delete my account.

I have grown tired of photobucket myself so I just created an account with postimage.org. Deleted my photobucket account after having it for 10 years. Had enough with the adds. Postimage is very easy to use so thanks for suggestion.

Today, I got my email from Photobucket telling me that I need to subscribe to their more expensive (although that part was at the very bottom of a long note) service if I wanted 'third party' something or other. I simply deleted it and will go figure out how to delete my account with them. They are welcome to all my pictures....

I also got the email saying i'd have to begin paying for third party posting - which is all I ever used PB for. I also would pay a reasonable fee for this service, but NOT $500/year!

Tried Imgur the other day, found their site lacking much information on how to upload, and it seems like anything put on their site will become "public" property? Guess I'll keep looking, probably keep tryign to figure out how to use MY website, as Cary C. suggested?

I created a web site more than 10 years ago, maybe 15 years ago, not sure.

I got a domain (i.e. a web address) and found a company to host the site for that domain.

The domain costs $15.00 a year to keep it registered with the internet.

Hosting the site costs $60.00 a year.

I can do what I want with it, I now post pictures mostly.
I did not create it initially to host pictures.

It is 'commercial' free so it loads super fast, for a few pictures.
