Listening to the radio last night one of the people that was in Phoenix at the time said that at 10:06 PM last night it was still 106 degrees in Phoenix. Can anyone verify that?

Can't verify but sounds legit. On the day I graduated from the Sergeants Major Academy in El Paso the wife flew in. At midnight it was 105 when we walked out of the terminal. She asked if it was always that hot. I had to tell her that it had cooled down from the daytime temp. That was her introduction to West Texas heat. So 106 in Phoenix doesn't sound too bad.

What I know for sure is that at 3am this morning it was 91 when I went out back to smoke my pipe and currently at 512pm it's 115. HOT!!!

I once landed at Phoenix and the heat about knocked me down! How in the world can someone work in that hell? Once the hottest I ever seen it was in Laughlin Nevada. We stopped at a convenience store and some guys were laying asphalt. A 350 pound Indian was raking the asphalt and I bet it was over 140 degrees! The poor guy was sweating a bucket.
The most miserable night I ever spent was around St. Lewis in the early 60`s. We got a cheap hotel room, no AC. It was so muggy and hot you couldn't breath.

my job takes me to Yuma, AZ.
Yesterdays high was 117 Deg., while walking from the transport to the hotel lobby it felt like a blowtorch on the back of my neck. Higher temps are expected.
I believe last years high was 122 Deg.

So how well does the home A/C work at high temps like that?
They say to expect about a 18-20 degree difference from outside temp for a home central A/C unit so that still sounds like a very warm house!

78 degrees in my house. I turn the a/c on in late April or early May and turn it off at the end of October.

Yes, it was 115 here today. Right now it's 108 out there, I just got in from walking 3 miles.

If it was on the news, it was true. Why so hard t

My weather station keeps the high temp for the day, until midnight. Right
now it shows 117 degrees as the high for today and it is currently 104,
with a humidity of 20%. I will admit that I live about five miles outside of
Phoenix.

More than a tad warm.

Walked to the mailbox (about 200 feet from my front door) at about 15:00
today in a six mph wind and TRUST ME, it was HOT!

Someone in TX questioned one of my posts on the humidity (was HIGH
for almost a week) and that broke the string. It's been drier than a pop
corn fart since then.

:D

I moved up to Utah to escape Phoenix summer heat. Several years ago, I saw on tv that Phoenix was 120 degrees. Called my mom and asked her to send some blankets as it was cold up here. :P Her reply was an Irish blessing. :) greg

I have 2 daughters who live in Phoenix and have for many years. They both come to Minnesota every summer to visit me and have a break from the Phoenix summer heat. We get to enjoy my lake home together and do a lot of fishing and boating together. It’s always very hard for them to leave when their vacation is over it’s time for them go back home.

Hi,

My next door neighbor is a truck driver, and travels from here to Phoenix five times a week. They recently changed his route times from almost all night time hours to leaving here around noon, for a twelve hour round trip, so so he really gets the afternoon and evening heat. Before this change, he's said that summer time heat in Phoenix in the neighborhood of 100 at midnight is not at all unusual.

Maybe you believe everything on the news...I don't.

117 in Gilbert Az. yesterday afternoon. 90 degrees in the shade at 5 AM today.

If they said it was 106 at 10 PM in Phoenix, believe it. Here in Tucson yesterday the high was 112 setting a new record for the date. At 10 PM it was still 102. FWIW, the all time record for Tucson was 117 and I'm starting to think we'll either tie it or break it. Supposed to be 109 today. I keep the A/C set at 79. A lot of people I know have their A/C's set at somewhere around 70 to 73*. The outside heat doesn't hit me quite as bad when set at 79 inside. Of course I've lived here for almost 40 years now so maybe I'm just getting used to it. Currently 106*

I've only been here 13 years, but I've set my temp at 79 for around 10 of those years. It does make the transition easier and enables me to walk up the mountain and shoot Sporting Clays at 90 degrees.

It was 111F a couple of days ago here. Only 70 inside the house, I can pay for the electric bill and it's worth the feeling I get coming inside the house. Both cars of course have AC and I don't ride my BMW C650GT until it gets cooler. Our nights are in the high 69s or low 70 now.
