Hi everyone,

I shoot the perfecta 357 ammo out of my gp100 with no issues so far. Someone on another board said they wouldn't store perfecta long term. Does anyone have an idea as to if there would be a problem with that? I would assume if stored properly it would last as long as any other brand ammo. Thanks.

Yeah I've shot several other calibers in perfecta also with good results and 0 issues. I figured it would be ok if stored properly but thought maybe the other guy knew something I didn't lol. Thanks for the reply.
 
You're welcome. I normally don't fool with unknown ammo makers, but back in the spring of 2015 the WalMarts around here sold this stuff at seriously low prices, so I had to try it out. 9mm was $6.94/50 45acp was $8.94/50 and the .223 was $8.94/50. Hard to go wrong at that price. And with my close proximity to DE, I was able to buy it tax-free by the case and put several thousand of each caliber away in the stash. I'm hoping it keeps :)
 
Sweet deals. 9mm/50 is 9.78 a box. 357 is 16.94, 38 special is 14.74, .380 is 12.94. All great prices. I did the same as you and that's why when I read the other guys comment I thought Uh oh lol. I keep it cool and in a dark dry place so I'm gonna assume it'll last a long while. It's made by fiocchi from what I can tell.

My AR loves Perfecta .223. In my rifle it's as accurate as more expensive "match grade" ammo. I have run over 1000 rounds through it over the past year or so without a single issue. I buy it whenever it's in stock at the three local Walmarts I frequent. Where are you getting it at $8.94 per 50? I'm paying $14.50 per 50 in St. Paul. I'll be driving to DC in a month or so and would love to bring some home at that price when I buy my 6 cases of Yuengling to bring home.
 
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that was likely $8.94 per 20, rather than 50.

I've used 9mm and .357 Perfecta and it has worked fine for me. I've reloaded the .357 brass many times, and have not seen any long term problems with the brass. FWIW, I found that the Perfecta .357 was an economical source of .357 brass. Subtracting component costs for 50 of my reloads, the cost of a box of Perfecta was on par with the lowest price of new brass, without having to buy it in quantity and pay shipping.
 
I've heard that it's going away. I still see some in my walmart. They received more .223 for 15 a box. I don't shoot .223 but I know that's a good price. It'll probably last an hour or two on the shelf lol. No 9mm for about 3 or so weeks. Plenty of 357 :) occasional .380 and only one box of 38 special every week or two. Best prices for brass in my area. Happy hunting.

Nope, that was no typo I posted $8.94 for 50 rounds for the .223. It was WM rollback priced back in the spring of 2015. I ended up with 2400 rounds of the .223. Just shy of 4000 rounds of the $6.94 9mm. 1200 rounds of the $8.94 45acp. And only 2 boxes of the .357 mag; I just couldn't find much of it back then or I'd have bought more of it too.

40 S&W was on rollback for $8.94/50 at the time, but I don't have any 40s so didn't pick any up. 308 was $6.94/20. Don't recall the price of the 380, but it was pretty spotty. I really wish I had saved the receipts because everybody finds this hard to believe, but those were the prices. Still have 1700 rounds or so of the 223. It's fairly accurate stuff. Up until that rollback, I'd never even heard of Perfecta. Love to see that happen again.
 
That's awesome. I do a lot of grocery shopping at the Walmarts in my area and since I work out of my house I can stop by just about any time. The sporting goods department managers all know me by sight and know what I'm looking for. We just don't get a lot of it.
 
Here are some posts from a local board I'm am member of from that time frame. You may notice, some WMs had the rollback, some didn't. I bought most of mine at the Delaware WMs; all of them participated in the rollback pricing. No VA, WV, or PA stores did. My job at the time had me on the roads all day everyday so I had the time to stop, and did so at every store during that time.

This was rollback pricing in 2015. I wish it was still that price. I still cruise every WM ammo case I can hoping to catch the next big sale like this one. $14.50 is still a good price for brass 223.

Waking up a sleeping thread, I didn't see any mention that Perfecta is from Fiocchi. Call it their promo line if you wish, like American Eagle is from Federal, or Remington's UMC and Winchester's WWB. The comment the OP asked about, concerning long term storage, seems like one of those many strange tales which come from the shooting world that grow legs... I haven't shot any yet, but a buddy put quite a bit thru his AR and was happy. I'd have no more qualms about using it than any of those domestic brands.

Have shot a total of 1 box of 9mm Perfecta. Most accurate ammo I have run through my Ruger convertible. I pulled one bullet and looked. They have a hollow scoop in the base. I like the ammo. I do not store much ammo. I mostly shoot reloads and some Gold Dot loads. When the big invasion of whatever comes I will probably have to load some ammo during the first wave.
 
I haven't had any issues with it in the several calibers I've used. Walmart in my area keeps getting it in....except 9mm. The 9mm hasn't been back for about 2 months. They have the 380,45 auto,357,38 and 223. As long as they keep selling it I'll keep buying and shooting it :) I figured it would store as well as any other ammo until I read another post and that's what made me ask the question here. Thanks to all who posted.

Not familiar with the brand, so have to ask the reason for concern over the shelf life? One of the components made out of an abnormal material or something?
 
Nothing abnormal. Someone on another forum said they shoot it but wouldn't store it long term. I asked why but never got a response...so I thought I'd ask the same question here. My guess is that it will store just fine...if properly stored.
