PC9 Rear Sight Question

Hey everyone, I'm new here and hoping to get some help. I purchased a PC9 Carbine Rifle a while ago and it came stock with a Ghost Ring Sight that mounted to these two screws...

I removed that Ghost Ring to mount a scope a while ago. Now I want to remove the scope and go back to the Ghost Ring but unfortunately I cant find it. I called Ruger parts and they don't have then either. But they did have the Rear Sight which I purchased...

It mounts to this section of the gun as I see in other pictures on the Web and in the Manual...

Is this some sort of cap on my gun? Maybe because it came stock with the Ghost Ring? The material is metal and I don't see how it can be removed. Any help would be appreciated!

First I'd break it down and see if possibly there is a screw on the bottom... it probably is just pressed in and can be pryed out... but that sure sounds like something that will scratch it.... both my PCs have regualar sights, so I really can't help ...but maybe somebody else can.

then again, I'd check around some more and see if you can get the ghost ring... there are other places besides Ruger to look .... like Numrich

I've never really checked either of mine, so just remove the handguard and check it. Since it's just a filler for the rear sight hole, I would suspect it just pops out or has some kind of retainer as blume357 suggests.

the upped hand guard is attached to the barrel by a spring tension type clip and will just "Pop off" as said above. that should enable you to check and see about the cap...odds are, as said above, it will likely, just pop out.

I just checked, it's drifted into the dovetail in the barrel. You'll have to remove it to install the new sight.
