Mini-14 rear sight options

Been wondering... is there a way to install notch rear sight on the MIni-14, instead of peepsight? I like many of the features on the Mini14 compared to AR, but what I really don't like are aperture sights, my eyes just can't work with them. I suppose one could install a railed upper handguard and make a picatinny compatible sight base, using something like AK sight blade. Or maybe the front post for scope rings could be used (not sure if it's far enough from the eye) to mount the base.
Just thought I would ask around, to see if someone has done this before. I guess not, as people generally seem to like the peephole sights, for some reason.

The Mini -14 Ranch used to come from the factory with a sort of crummy V-notch rear sight which is probably better than whatever you can cobble together yourself. If appears that newer versions are equipped with a peep sight.

You probably know that to use a peep sight, you get as close to the peep as possible, and look through the “hole” at the front sight and the target, not looking at the rear sight at all.

The ruger site shows the newer ones with what looks like an improved peep sight.

My memory is faulty. The old one was a peep sight made from what appears to be a folding V Notch sight with a peep blade on it instead of the adjustable V blade.

It is known that when the eye looks through the peep sight it realizes the perfect center of that sight. As mentioned, you simply look through the aperture and focus entirely on the front sight and the target. Human eye cannot focus on three objects at a time, becomes distorted so to speak. You do need to establish a spot on the comb of the rifle which is comfortable for you and always go back to that one spot you have found. When I was competing in rifle matches using a micrometer peep sight had a small piece of tape on my rifle's stock comb to ensure same cheek weld for each shot. Just a suggestion.

I'm not sure a notch sight works at all well at the distance it would be from the shooter's eye replacing the stock Mini sights.

Need to know what vintage of rifle your Mini is as well, the sights discussed thus far in the thread are from much older Minis. You'd probably do best with a something in the factory ring notch on newer models.

A notch sight wouldn't be good at the factory rear sight distance, that's why I've mentioned other places.
There's no Mini of mine, I'm just thinking about getting one; the sight issue is one of the things that keep me from buying it.

If I didn’t want to use a peep sight I would put a low magnifcation scope on it
