I should hope not! The 40 shield is badly conceived. Can the 10mm be made in a compact carry version that's worthwhile? I much doubt it!

The 357 SIG would have been a roaring success had it come out before the 44/41 mags. But it is too little too late! Can a viable bottle necked 44mag+ be made? That would be real competition for the heavy magnums!

The bottlenecked 44 already exists, the 440 CorBon, basically a 50 AE necked down to 44 for the desert eagle pistol. I think the point was missed on the 357 Sig. Its only reason for existing was to offer a semi auto service pistol with ballistics similar to a service length, 4'' or less, 357 revolver, the more or less standard duty gun during the 60's, 70's and 80's. The 125 JHP load at 1350-1400 fps offers that in a 12-15 shot semi auto such as the Glock 31,32,&33 or the Sig 226,229, or 239. Most agencies were very satisfied with the 357 Magnum's performance, but wanted it in a semi auto package. The 40 S&W was an attempt in that direction and the 10mm guns were bigger and heavier, or non existent. The 40 was 4 years ahead of the 357 Sig with better advertising and agencies which had just bought new 40's were not going to trade them in for 357 Sigs. As I stated previously, I acquired and carried a P226 in 357 Sig and never looked back. My agency even furnished training and duty ammo for a while. Bob! :D

My EDC is a little Glock 33, 15 +1 rounds using a grip sleeve. I am accurate and fast with it, small enough to carry comfortable in the back pocket of my Bib overalls and some jeans with deep pockets. I also use either a outside waistband kydex or a buffalo leather Versacarry belt holster. I have a 40 cal barrel for it and am going to order a Lone Wolf 9mm that fits the 27 or 33 models. I also recently found a .22LR kit for the 27 & 33.
Moriarti Armaments company has Glock mag lowers and a nice selection of uppers for 9mm, 45acp and 10mm but I have not seen 357 sig uppers.
I have enough quality 357 Sig ammo put away to take care of my needs, and being able to use 40 S&W ammo in the same gun is a convenient and lower recoil choice. The Lone Wolf 9mm barrel for it should be a nice addition

I had a 357 sig on the top of my list of the next to buy... guess I better rethink that.

If you own a Glock, in .40 S&W you can just switch out the barrel with the .357 Sig Barrel. My mags seem to feed both the .40 and the .357 just fine. I actually have the opposite I have a Glock 31c and bought a .40 S&W Lone Wolf barrel a few years back just to have the option.

There seams to be a love/hate relationship with the .357 sig

I just had a nice conversation with a former LEO at his yard sale. He was quite fond of the .357SIG. We agreed on the logic of the caliber: low-end .357 mag performance in a bottle-necked case that feeds flawlessly in a higher-capacity semi-auto pistol. Whether it would benefit from a 16" carbine barrel, I don't know. The .357 mag approaches .30-30 performance in a carbine.
