Just ordered on-line a few minutes ago, a set of grips from Atlamont for my older Charter Arms Off Duty that i bought a year or so ago. It only took a minute or two and was a done deal. It paid thru Pay-Pal, i did not have to have an account, but one was offered if i had wanted one. Just entered my credit card info and shipping address, easy as pie. Pay-Pal has a good track record as far as security is concerned, so i am ok with it. The reason i mention it, is that a couple months ago we had a thread here about that very issue, i assumed you had to have an account with Pay-Pal in order for them to process a sale. But, that was not the case with Altamont. If i remember correctly, the member who started the thread was also interested in getting grips from Altamont. Hope this helps anyone considering this type of purchase. :)

Many on line merchants offer payment thru PayPal and an actual account there is NOT required. PayPal simply processes the transaction for the merchant.
One large popular gun forum I frequent uses that for donations too. And there's an eBay merchant I deal with also having the same set up.
When I had an actual PayPal account, it was hacked over and over and over again. However, using this method I've never had a problem.

My bank account was hacked through PayPal a few years ago, haven't used them since.
When you say a Paypal account, do you mean an account with money, similar to a bank account? Or are you meaning a simple log-in and password to PayPal for transferring money etc.
I ask because I have a log-in and password for PayPal, I use it for paying for things, very rarely however. And even then, just a credit card, never the bank account.

I received a notice from PayPal that I was charging $399 to my PayPal account. Took several weeks and an affidavit to the effect that I had not opened a PayPal account. Got that settled then Nita got a notice from PayPal that she was charging $399 to her PayPal account. Again lengthy process until a bank in Florida contacted me about our PayPal accounts. Again correspondence and an affidavit was required to free us up from PayPal. Left a bad taste in my mouth!

If you had no account then how on earth could they charge to a nonexistent account? And to top it off you had to prove to them no account existed, now that’s a strange one happy you got it figured out.

I bought some grips from Altamont before Christmas. They said they had to run it through Paypal and I finally acquiessed. Then got a note from Altamont that they would be an extra 6 weeks on the grips, but of course they had already charged my credit card. Then later on, they said they were out of material and wouldn't be able perform and they would credit my account. edited, looks like they did credit my account after a couple of weeks.
Update, my grips arrived today, they are of superb fit/finish/quality, i can't recommend them highly enough, i will definitely be ordering more from them in the future. I don't have a way to move pics from my cheap camera to my computer, but i will rectify that shortly, and then i will post pics for your entertainment!

Myself, I refuse to use PP in any shape or form.
They don't like guns or people that own them and will not firearms sales through them.
I also complain to vendors of firearm related goods that use PP, avoiding buying from them as much as possible.

I use a credit card with a $1,000 max so incase it gets hacked that's all they'll get plus my credit card company guarantees it covers any misuse of it.

I actually have a business account setup with them that allows me to accept credit card payments from my customers. They sent me a bluetooth card reader that works with my cell phone so I can use it on the jobsite. The money posts to my PayPal account instantly. I can spend it with there visa card or they will mail me a check. If I chose to attach my bank info I could transfer it instantly into my bank account. They do charge 3% for the service but their software allows you to automatically add that to the total if customers need to pay by credit card.
